NURAS, the folk/alternative band are formed by two brothers called Nur Azmi a.k.a Mi Mambo and Asmawi Mohter. The band officially formed by the end of December 2006. The band appeared in several gigs and stage performances around Kuala Lumpur since the early of January 2007.Influenced by a few folk and alternative band/artists around the globe such like Bob Dylan, Iwan Fals,Meor, R.E.M, Lisa Loeb,Hootie and The Blowfish and etc. the first demo has been published by their own with only two songs called "fly away" (totally composed by Asmawi Mohter) and "Nadai" (totally composed by Nur Azmi. The song, "fly away" have been written by Asmawi in several years ago when Nur Azmi has finished his art study in UiTM (MARA University of Technology, Malaysia) and meet his brother, Asmawi Mohter in 2002. In that year, Asmawi Mohter still studying his computer system in ITP (Perak Institute of Technology, Malaysia). the sound crafts of this two brother will appear on CD formatted E.P soon. The E.P will realese under their own label and promises the unique melodious folk blend beetwen east and west.Asmawi Mohter also have his own band called "Fire Locomotive" who played post-grunge and well known band in Perak especially in Ipoh and Kuala Kangsar. Nur Azmi well known as a cartoonist,painter,writter and illustrator also have another band called "Stoneriver" who played the naughty music called "Punkrock".The two bands still active in the scene and will realeses their own demo/E.P soon.
